La Taberna del Puerto is a simple fishermen's bar in Santa Pola's fishing port, right next to the fish market auction hall. The interior is basic and the customers are mostly locals, including fishermen — one reviewer writes that some just drop in for a quick drink. The kitchen focuses on fish and seafood from the bay: visitors mention lobster stew, caldero, local prawns, fried squid and rice dishes. Reviews keep returning to the freshness of the produce, the family atmosphere and the friendly staff, and some guests note that the tables look out onto the auction conveyor belts. It is an authentic spot for breakfast or a seafood lunch, nothing like the restaurants on the promenade.
Guest favourites: fish and seafood straight off the boats, fish tapas; coffee and a fishermen's breakfast in the morning. No dinner — open until 7pm, Saturdays only until 1pm.
