El Bodegón is a tapas-and-rice house open since 2007 in the Zona Golf area by Playa de San Juan in Alicante. Its speciality is traditional rice — from the classic arroz con bogavante (with lobster) to seasonal creations — cooked to be creamy with a crisp caramelised base (socarrat). In the evening the menu turns to informal tapas: montaditos, patatas bravas, fried fish, ensaladilla rusa, octopus and marinated cazón (dogfish). The carefully chosen wine list also offers wines by the glass, and there is both an indoor dining room and a terrace. Reviewers particularly praise the rice dishes, such as the arroz a banda and the monkfish, mussel and prawn rice, as well as the homemade desserts and the friendly service.
