Cruceros Kontiki runs boat trips from the port of Alicante to Tabarca island; on the city's tourism portal it is the only operator listed for sailings from Alicante. The company has a fleet of three catamarans carrying 150 to 250 passengers, with an open upper deck, a lounge, a bar and toilets. Two of them have underwater viewing windows for looking at the seabed. The crossing takes 45–60 minutes, tickets are sold online or at the ticket office in the port, and besides the crossing the company offers packages with lunch at a restaurant on Tabarca, snorkelling around the island and boat trips to watch fireworks. Visitors praise the punctuality and the crew, but some reviews mention long queues for the return trip and a rough ride when the sea is choppy.
One visitor recommends buying tickets in advance, especially at weekends, and several advise joining the queue for the return from the island early, as it gets crowded. According to one review the open upper deck can be windy and chilly, so bring an extra layer.
Return trip to Tabarca: adults €24 · children up to 4 free. Tickets online or at the port ticket office, 40 minutes before departure.
